Description
PreSchool 2 is an exciting progression for preschoolers ready to take their
skills to the next level. This class focuses on transforming assisted water
comfort into independent movement and coordinated stroke development.
Our certified instructors guide children through a structured yet fun
curriculum that emphasizes proper technique and self-reliance. In this
positive and encouraging environment, children gain the confidence and
ability to perform fundamental swimming skills, building a strong technical
foundation for all future swimming.
Focus / Goals:
1. Developing independence and self-sufficiency in the water
2. Improving overall body coordination for complex movements
3. Introducing the coordinated components of foundational swim strokes
Skills Developed:
· Independent floating (front and back) for 5-10 seconds
· Confident submersion and underwater exploration
· Freestyle and backstroke motions with and without a kickboard
· Rolling from front to back to rest and breathe
Step-by-step Roadmap (First 4 Weeks):
Week 1 Building Independence: Reinforcing independent floats and
confident submersion. Introducing the “big arms” of freestyle while standing
and walking in the water.
Week 2 Stroke Coordination on Front: Combining freestyle arm motions
with flutter kicks while using a kickboard for support. Focusing on straight-leg
kicks and face-in-water bubbles.
Week 3 Introduction to Backstroke: Practicing independent back floating
and introducing the alternating arm motions of the backstroke. Kicking on
the back with and without support.
Week 4 Combining Skills for Short Swims: Linking freestyle and backstroke
skills to swim short distances (3-5 feet) to the instructor. Practicing the
“Roll over” from front to back as an early safety skill.
