Description
Level 6 is the culmination of the learn-to-swim program, designed to produce
proficient, confident, and skilled aquatic individuals. Students engage in
fitness-based swimming, including interval training and using a pace clock.
The curriculum focuses on mastering stroke mechanics at a high level.
building the endurance to swim 500 yards continuously, and applying skills in
advanced water safety and rescue scenarios. This level prepares students for a
lifetime of safe, enjoyable aquatic activity, whether for competition, fitness, or
leadership roles.
Focus / Goals:
1. Mastering stroke mechanics for efficiency, power, and endurance
2. Preparing for advanced activities like competitive swimming, fitness
swimming, or lifeguarding
3. Developing leadership and advanced water safety instructor skills
Skills Mastered:
· Swimming all strokes with high efficiency
· Swimming front crawl and elementary backstroke for 200 yards
· Swimming breaststroke, back crawl, butterfly, and sidestroke for 50 yards
· Swimming 500 yards continuously using multiple strokes
· Executing advanced turns (flip and open) with speed
· Diving from a compact starting position
· Using a pace clock for interval training
· Performing advanced rescue techniques and responding to water safety
scenarios
What to Bring:
Swimsuit, towel, goggles, swim cap, and water bottle required.
Class Size & Format:
Small group (maximum 5 students). 45-minute instructor-led class with
fitness components.
Recommended Frequency:
Once or twice per week to maintain and advance fitness and technique.
Progression:
Upon completion, students are ready for specialized pathways such as Swim
Team Prep, Fitness Swimming, or Lifeguarding Courses.
