Description
Level 2 is designed for students who are comfortable in the water and ready
to start swimming on their own. This class focuses on developing
self-sufficiency and fundamental locomotion. Instructors help students
transition from supported skills to performing floats, glides, and basic
propulsion independently. The introduction of treading water and changing
direction builds critical competencies for safety and future stroke
development.
Focus / Goals:
1. Achieving independent movement and flotation
2. Combining arm and leg actions for basic propulsion
3. Introducing foundational water safety practices like treading water
Skills Mastered:
· Entering the water by stepping or jumping from the side
· Fully submerging and holding breath
· Unsupported front and back floats and glides
· Rolling from front to back and back to front
· Combining alternating arm and leg actions for short distances
· Swimming freestyle for 15 yards
· Swimming backstroke for 15 yards
· Swimming elementary backstroke for 15 yards
· Treading water using arm and leg movements
· Changing direction while swimming
What to Bring:
Swimsuit, towel, and goggles are required.
Class Size & Format:
Small group (maximum 5 students). 45-minute instructor-led class.
Recommended Frequency:
Once per week for steady progression toward independent swimming.
Progression:
Upon mastery, students advance to Level 3: Stroke Development.
