Description
Adult Intermediate is for those comfortable in the water and ready to learn
proper swimming strokes. This class focuses on translating basic skills into
smooth, efficient technique that can be sustained over multiple pool lengths.
Our instructors provide detailed feedback on body position, arm recovery, and
the critical skill of rhythmic breathing. You will build the endurance and
Coordination needed to swim laps confidently and for exercise.
Focus / Goals:
1. Developing technically sound freestyle and backstroke
2. Mastering rhythmic side breathing
3. Building continuous swimming endurance
Skills Mastered:
· Freestyle with side breathing for 25 meters
· Backstroke for 25 meters with a stable body position
· Elementary backstroke for rest and recovery
· Open turns and basic diving entries from the side
· Treading water for 1 minute
Step-by-step Roadmap (First 4 Weeks):
· Week 1: Freestyle Foundations: Drills for body rotation, arm catch, and
introduction to consistent side breathing.
· Week 2: Backstroke & Balance: Developing a stable backstroke with
straight arm recovery and continuous kick.
· Week 3: Building Endurance: Interval training to increase distance,
aiming for 50-75 meters continuously.
· Week 4: Skill Integration: Practicing open turns and combining all skills
to achieve the 100-meter swim goal.
What to Bring:
A swimsuit, towel, and goggles are required. A water bottle for hydration is
recommended. Swim caps are encouraged for long hair.
Class Size & Format:
Small group (maximum 5 students). This allows for tailored technical
feedback from the instructor.
Recommended Frequency:
Once or twice per week for optimal technique development and endurance
gains.
Progression:
Upon mastery, adults graduate to Adult Advanced for performance-focused
training in all four competitive strokes.
