Description
Level 1 is the perfect starting point for school-aged children and teens new to
swimming. This class focuses on overcoming any apprehension and building
a positive relationship with the water. Our certified instructors provide gentle,
step-by-step guidance to help participants master essential water adjustment
skills. Through fun, structured activities, students learn to control their
breathing, float, and gliding, all while absorbing crucial safety rules that are vital
for any aquatic environment.
Focus/Goals:
1. Building comfort and confidence in the water
2. Developing basic breath control and submersion skills
3. Learning fundamental water safety awareness and practices
Skills Mastered:
· Entering and exiting the water safely
· Blowing bubbles and submerging mouth, nose, and eyes
· Performing a bobbing motion
· Supported front and back floating
· Gliding on front and back with assistance
· Combining alternating arm and leg actions for short distances
· Recovering to a vertical position from a float
· Learning and reciting basic water safety rules
What to Bring:
Swimsuit, towel, and a change of clothes. Goggles are recommended.
Class Size & Format:
Small group (maximum 5 students). 45-minute instructor-led class.
Recommended Frequency:
Once per week for consistent skill development and water confidence.
Progression:
Upon mastery, students advance to Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills.
