Description
Pre-School 1 welcomes young children to their first structured water
experience without parent participation. Our certified instructors specialize in
creating a calm, emotionally secure environment where preschoolers can
thrive. The class blends imaginative play with fundamental skill development,
helping children build trust in the water and their instructor. Through songs,
games, and positive reinforcement, we focus on developing water comfort,
basic body positions, and early breathe control, ensuring a positive and
encouraging start to their swimming journey.
Focus / Goals:
1. Building foundational comfort and confidence in the water
2. Developing assisted movement and basic body control
3. Introducing core swimming skills through playful, structured activities
Skills Introduced:
· Gentle submersion with support
· Assisted front and back floats
· Bubble blowing for breath control
· Kickboard basics: kicking and arm strokes with guidance
· Safe entry and exit from the water with instructor assistance
Step-by-step Roadmap (First 4 Weeks):
Week 1 Water Introduction & Trust Building: Adjusting to the class format,
building trust with the instructor, and engaging in gentle water play to foster
comfort. Introduction to putting ears and face in the water.
Week 2 Basic Floats & Body Position: Practicing assisted front and back
floats, focusing on body relaxation and the feeling of buoyancy. Introduction
to holding the wall independently.
Week 3 Breath Control & Kicking: Learning to blow bubbles at the surface
and with the mouth submerged. Introducing basic flutter kicks while holding
the wall and with a kickboard for support.
Week 4 Combining Skills in Play: Linking skills together through fun,
game-based activities. This includes blowing bubbles while kicking, and
practicing assisted arm strokes across the short distance to the instructor.
What to Bring:
Swim suit, towel, goggles (recommended), and a change of clothes. A smile
and encouraging words for your little swimmer are a must!
Class Size & Format:
Small group (maximum 5 students). This ensures each child receives ample
individual attention and support from the instructor.
Recommended Frequency:
Once per week for consistent adaptation and skill-building.
Progression:
Upon mastering these skills, children advance to PRESCHOOL 2, which
focuses on independent floating, combined stroke movements, and building
endurance.
